GOVERNOR DAVE UMAHI TO BOOST RICE PRODUCTION IN THE STATE RELEASED N11OM

  Ebonyi state is going through what you can call rapid growth in all ramifications. When many think the governor is giving special attention to roads he is in health. When you think his major concern is electicity he manifests in Education and presently he has broaden the horizon in Agriculture through Rice and cassava production.
The Ebonyi State Governor, David Nweze Umahi, has paid N110m as counterpart fund for the Fadama III Additional Financing project of the Federal Government.
The N110m paid by Umahi was for 2015, 2016 and 2017.
This information was contained in the mid-term report presented by the Ebonyi State Fadama Office to the Federal Government/World Bank Mid-Term Review team, who visited Ebonyi last weekend.
Gov. Umahi stated that “Ebonyi is ready and willing to play a leading role in rice and cassava value chain in the country.”
Report has it that during the 2016 rain-fed farming season, 1, 815 hectares of rice farms were cultivated, using recommended production technology as provided by advisory service consultants, and this resulted into total output of 9,075 metric tonnes by farmers.

Presently, 13 local government areas of Ebonyi State are participating in the Fadama III AF.
