Idima Edda 20 Persons Dead over Land Dispute



About 20 persons have been reportedly killed over a land dispute between Ogiri and Okporojo villages in Idima Edda communities in Afikpo South local government of Ebonyi state.
This was revealed on Tuesday 13 June 2017 during a security meeting held at Oso Edda development center by the Senior Special Adviser to Ebonyi state governor.


Edda Magazine gathered that the crisis, which started on Sartuday had claim the lives of 12 persons and children from twelve years and above missing.
The problem started when Ogiri people allegedly killed one Mr. Emeaha Odiuko from Okporojo village, who went to his farm and in a appraisal attack, Okporojo people destroyed lives and property worth millions of naira.


Dr Kenneth Ugbala, the Senior Special Adviser to Ebonyi state governor, who visited to crisis zone, directed security men to guard the disputed land and warned that nobody should be allowed into it.
Ugbala assured that government would “do all it takes to see every perpetrator of the act brought to book” urging the people to remain calm as normalcy would soon returned to the area.
He, however, directed the local government chairman to immediately constitute town union development leadership in the area.


Chairman, Afikpo South LGA, Bar. Eni Uduma Chima, lamented the level of damage done to the area by Okporojo villagers.
